F.A.Q.

Q: How can I spot reduce? There are certain areas that I would like to slim down.

A:  The idea of spot reduction is a myth! The body cannot pick and choose where it wants to burn fat from. Fat is stored throughout the body and will be burned from all over. The best thing to do is to have a balanced program of cardiovascular exercise and weight training.

Q: I want to lose weight, currently I do cardio but I am afraid to do weight training for the fear that I will get bulky and too muscular, will I?

A: I cant tell you how many times I hear women say this around the gym. The fact is women simply do not have the genetic makeup to get bulky like men. Women have far less of the hormone testosterone compared to men, which is key for building muscle. Weight training is essential for anyone, especially someone trying to lose weight. Weight training will help keep your metabolism high which in turn will help you burn more calories throughout the day, even when your not active!

Q: Will consuming to much alcohol effect my results?

A: If your trying to gain muscle it will not help you because alcohol will reduce your levels of growth hormone, and also increase protein breakdown both bad things if your looking to gain muscle. if your trying to trim up and loose fat alcohol will hurt you because your body will hold off on burning fat and instead try to process the alcohol, which can take valuable fat burning time away.

Q: What is the best triceps exercise for putting on mass?

A:  Top two would be close grip bench press and dips. Close grip bench press allows you to use a heavy load which places greater stress on the triceps, this is essential for growth! Dips are great for adding mass as well, just look at a gymnast, they always have massive triceps from doing dips. For the best triceps workout try combining the two together, check my workouts for a routine.

Q: Is it ok to train the same muscle two days in a row?

A: You shouldn’t be training the same muscle two days in a row. It will not only decrease your performance and strength but it will lead you to over train. When you work a muscle the tissue breaks down and then needs time to recover and rebuild, by not allowing proper rest you hinder this process. The only way it would be fine is if the second day was some sort of rehab, light work.
